About us
Why are we doing this?
One afternoon my daughter, Sarah, came home from school and asked why we didn’t recycle. That afternoon I realized that when it came to “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”, I was all talk. We set up recycling bins for our trash and started to make small changes to try and reduce our drain on the environment.
Coming from a long line of tinkerers, I hate throwing away anything that might be able to be easily fixed or refitted. Friends and neighbors took notice and instead of putting things on the curb to go the landfill, they would often give me their cast offs that they would rather have out of their hair than to actually address. Our house genuinely feels like home to everyone because so much of our home has been upcycled from things that other people were throwing away and that I have repurposed.
I have not done it all alone though. While I can usually figure out the function of an upcycled project, I constantly have relied on Sarah for form. Her artistic vision has brought life to most of my labors of love. She has such a great way of making anything unique and appealing. We make quite a pair!
It sees only natural that eventually we would build a partnership. That is how Upcycled was born. sWe have created a website dedicated to taking the cast-offs and making them new again. Whether it is a part for your own project or all the pieces to start from scratch, we strive to keep things out of the landfill and to bring them back to life bringing joy in their new functions.
We sell parts and pieces that were destined to be trash and get them cleaned up, repaired, and ready for you. If there is a specific part that you are looking for, we are happy to help you source what you need. If you don’t have time to do a project yourself, but see something that you would like to buy as a completed project, contact us about finished project pricing.
